She grew up on Maui

The recruiting process

It started in Maui.

No travel team. No showcase circuit. Just a club highlight video and an ocean between her and every college coach. She even paid for a recruiting service — and it didn’t help.

So she did it herself

Emails. ID camps. Repeat.

Nikolina wrote to coaches on her own and showed up at ID camps to be seen in person. It worked — Idaho State signed her straight out of a camp.

The climb

Idaho State. San Diego State. Pro.

Big Sky Player of the Week at Idaho State, then a transfer to SDSU and a 2017 Mountain West title. From there: pro soccer in the USA, Spain, Iceland, Greece and Australia — team captain at two clubs.
